Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, first photo confirms actor in the newest movie in Marvel's cinematic universe.

Reports of Paul Rudd as Ant-Man have been a running rumor for months, but a new photo confirms the rumors as legit.

Marvel fans are in for an early treat with a glimpse of Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, sans the superhero suit. The released photo shows Rudd as Scott Lang, hooded and standing in front of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge.

Marvel Studios dished out the details of the plot, which fans of the character should be very familiar with.

The superhero movie is an adaptation of the graphic novel, with Paul Rudd playing the con-man Scott Lang, who unwittingly finds himself "armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength."

Lang is forced to be an unlikely superhero in order to team up with Dr. Hank Pynn, to "protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats." Michael Douglas plays the role of Dr. Pynn in the adaptation.

Aside from the confirmation of Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, the movie also features Corey Stoll (Yellowjacket), Judy Greer, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Pena, T.I., and John Slattery.

"Ant-Man" started production last Monday in the San Francisco area, with a scheduled theatrical release on July 17, 2015 (yahoo.com).

Marvel Studios have plenty of graphic novel adaptations lined up until 2019. After "Guardians of the Galaxy," follow-ups to Thor, Captain America, and Avengers are rumored, as well as a reboot of the Fantastic 4 franchise.

Shazam and the Inhumans adaptations are also rumored to be in the works, with well-known actors The Rock and Vin Diesel early favorites for the lead roles.

Paul Rudd as Ant-Man is an unlikely candidate, though Marvel has managed to pull off unlikely castings in the past. Watch out for more developments, with a teaser trailer expected in the next few months.
