"X-Men: Apocalypse" is presently gaining a lot of steam, particularly since reports that this upcoming sequel could feature the Nightcrawler and Gambit, as reported by IGN. There is a very big possibility that "X-Men: Apocalypse" will also turn out as a blockbuster, just like the one before it, "X-Men: Days of Future Past," which earned over $600 million all over the world.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is going to be directed by Brian Singer and will be produced by Simon Kinberg. Speculations regarding Gambit and the Nightcrawler only started to surface when Singer hinted in one of his recent interviews that he is very much interested in showcasing these particular mutants into the sequel.

Singer informed EW, "I'm excited because I want to start introducing familiar characters at different ages and also explore the 80s." This was Singer's method of clueing in that the Nightcrawler and Gambit can possibly become part of "X-Men: Apocalypse."

In the previous film, "X-Men 2," the role of the Nightcrawler was portrayed by Alan Cumming. The character of the Nightcrawler is actually based on the internationally famous comic book. His skills include his ability to teleport and his efficiency with his highly adhesive feet and hands. Based on the comic book, the Nightcrawler is not particularly social. Plus, he is supposedly the son of Mystique.

Mystique, on the other hand, was played by Jennifer Lawrence. With the increased focus on Mystique in the film series, it is very possible that the Nightcrawler will soon appear, as what fans speculate is going to happen with the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse."

To date, however, the actual plot of "X-Men: Apocalypse" has still not yet been revealed. Perhaps its story will take off where the "X-Men: Days of Future Past" left off. In the end credits scene of the previous blockbuster, a mutant was shown building a pyramid all by himself. This is believed to be the focal point of the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse." Moreover, because of the title, it is speculated to be based on the comic book that was released in the 90s, entitled "Age of Apocalypse."
