The Apple iPhone revolution: It was in January 2007 when Apple introduced iPhone in its yearly Macworld Expo. Steve Jobs, then company chairman, called it a "revolutionary mobile phone". After seven years, how did iPhone change the mobile industry?

First, it can be said that Jobs was right with his claim as iPhone has transformed the mobile industry. Before its launch, Nokia is the number one mobile company in the globe. Android phones were not in existence. Executives only know BlackBerrys. After seven years, consumers see Apple's revolutionary mobile phone being a part of their daily lives - in the office, at home, in school, during travels, and many more.

With the Apple iPhone revolution, people learn to keep memories in their phones through images and videos the easier and cheaper ways. They also keep important data, such as health records, in their devices. They also get to fight boredom playing games, listening to music, and watching videos. Researchers, students, instructors, and others search for information in only a matter of seconds.

ChangeWave Research reported in 2011 about the actual iPhone usage: Games (61%), Weather (55%), Maps, Navigation and Search (55%), Social Networking (49%), Music (42%), News (24%),

Entertainment (33%), Banking and Finance (28%), Dining (25%), Sports (24%), Productivity (22%), Shopping (21%), Video (21%) and Travel (20%).

After the first Apple iPhones were made available to the market, Apple introduced new models every year. In July 2008, there was iPhone 3G. iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, and iPhone 4S were presented in the succeeding three years. In September 2012, there was the iPhone 5. A year later, buyers got excited about iPhone 5C and 5S.

Apple's record of sales through the years is also a true reflection of the iPhone revolution. Statista reported that in the third quarter of 2007, global Apple iPhone sales has reached 0.27 million. After seven years (third quarter 2007 to third quarter 2014), 35.2 millions of units were sold. From 2010 to 2013, Apple had between 13 and 23 percent of market share for new smartphone sales sector globally.
