UFC Fight Night 48 : Elizabeth Phillips disappointed with her UFC Debut

Elizabeth Phillips didn't expect her UFC career to start on a disappointing note. The 28 year old fighter was called by the UFC to be a part of June's UFC 174 event where she replaced Milana Dudieva just less than a week before the match against Valerie Letourneau will commence. Although short-handed on training, Phillips accepted the offer and went on with the fight. Though it was an entertaining match, Phillips was visibly tired towards the end of the rounds.

According to Phillips "Honestly, I was pretty disappointed. I fought pretty hard for the circumstances. I had just fought two weeks before that and cut like 25 pounds in a couple weeks. Then I sat on the couch for a week and got called back up again. It was a rough road, and I take that into consideration, but there's also some things that I wish I would have done differently in the fight. I don't know if that had anything to do with my training or what, but I was kind of disappointed."

Although she lost, Phillips didn't regret the decision she made but she also admits that if given a much longer time to prepare, she would have stand a chance with the match. Nonetheless, the fighter is still pretty optimistic of her future in UFC.

She said "I definitely feel blessed for the opportunity to do it. They called me up and signed me for a reason, and I wouldn't take it back. I just wish that I would have had time to prepare and perform the way that I wanted to, especially with it being televised and everything. That's not usually how it goes down for the average fighter. Usually, the average fighter gets a pretty full training camp before they go and perform on a big stage like that."

She added "For the circumstances that went down, I think I did great. I just wish that it went a little differently. But I'm definitely blessed for the opportunity, and I wouldn't take it back."

Tonight, Phillips will be given another chance to prove that her first match does not spell her abilities. She will be placing the person whom she replaced during the fight with Valerie Letourneau, Milana Dudieva.
