Former World No. 1 professional tennis player Boris Becker faced criticism after he was appointed by Novak Djokovic to be his coach. The six-time Grand Slam singles champion was doubted by a lot of tennis enthusiast as Becker has been off the court for quite a long time and has been doing stints on television as a commentator.

But Becker all proved them wrong. Djokovic won the latest Wimbledon Championships against Roger Federer in a five setter classic. Becker said "It was a little bit strange, (I was) a little bit surprised. I wasn't aware I had that many doubters. This is a part of sometimes being Boris Becker, being so much in the front row of life, that a lot of people feel like they are entitled to their opinion even though they have no idea about me" He told CNN's Open Court.

Becker was approached by Djokovic and offered him the coaching job which he felt honored to be handed. He said "He's a great student. Yet he is very hard-headed. He is very convinced about his way. He should be - so some of the conversations weren't that easy."

Becker admitted the the Wimbledon Championship was a hard case to crack as Federer has been matching up his player and came back to win the fourth set.

But with his skills, Djokovic came in and won the fifth set. "I was a little bit worried to say the least, I thought Novak was on the ropes - Roger did another Roger. It felt like I came around full circle. I truly love Wimbledon; it's given me everything that I am today. And it felt right to be coaching Djokovic and it felt right for him to win."

When asked why he agreed to coach Djokovic, he said "I see in Novak a little bit of Boris Becker."

He added "I see him against Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, probably the two most popular players in the world, and he doesn't always get a fair deal from the crowd. It makes him work even harder and more determined to win. I see some similarities between him and a young Becker."
