Keanu Reeves' fans have another reason to celebrate because they won't have to wait for long to see "The Matrix" star acting again. Just recently, Slingshot Global Media has announced last August 18 that Reeves will star in a TV series "Rain".
"Rain" is based on a best-selling book series by Barry Eisler about a fictional character John Rain. He is an assassin, and he is for hire. His special skill: making appear that his victim died of natural cause. So, isn't it so timely that this type of TV series awarded to Reeves, considering that he plays as a retired hitman in his upcoming movie "John Wick"?
Whether or not the reason for landing on the lead role is about "John Wick", the production has seen that the "Constantine" actor really fits to play as John Rain. Yes, another John for Reeves. It's his first time to star in a TV series, but it isn't his first to be called John in his entire acting career.
If we count his name in "Bram Stoker's Dracula", then it was the first time he portrayed a role with "John" in the name which is Don John. Well, could be "Johnny Mnenomic" counted? Next is when he played as John Constantine in movie adaptation based on the character in the comic book by DC Comics' "Hellblazer" under Vertigo Comics imprint.
Keanu Reeves also played the role of John in an independent drama film "Generation Um...", and the latest as "John Wick".
However, this will be the first time that he will play as John in a small screen and, at the same time, as executive producer along with "John Wick" directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch. So, it's another action-packed work for the three and with another executive producer, the book series writer Barry Eisler.
The details on the TV show hasn't revealed yet as it is still on its infant stage, and Eisler wrote on his blog, "All I really know at this point is that Keanu is attached, which is obviously huge in general and thrilling for me personally, and that good people are behind the project and are trying to move it forward. As far as I know, pretty much everything else is still up in the air."
Of course, the actor has his say as published on Variety, "As a huge fan of Barry's work, I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to bring his iconic character and incredible world to life. I'm looking forward to partnering with Slingshot on my first series, and reteaming with Chad and David."
So, for now, Reeves' fans have to just sit back and relax and wait for further announcements. Most importantly, they have to wait until the "Rain" TV series is on air.
