After all the training and practice games, the US team has finally come up with their roster of 12 members whom they believe will bring home the gold once more to the US soil.
The US National Team has been plagued with lots of controversies coming from players who decided to withdraw from the team due to different reasons. They had Kevin Durant who left the team due to physical and mental stress, there was also Kevin Love who decided to quit the team for reasons of his incumbent transfer of team and there was Paul George who had a very hard hitting injury.
Now that the list is complete, the question right now is who are in to the team and who are out. Apparently Derrick Rose is kept to the team while a couple of notable players have been cut off. Among them are Damian Lillard, Kyle Korver, Gordon Hayward and Chandler Parsons.
Although officials said that they may take in a few more players when they left for Spain on Saturday and that the list is not yet final til Friday, they have established the listing earlier.
According to USA Basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo in a statement "'Since taking over the USA Basketball men's national team program in 2005, this was without doubt the most difficult selection process we've gone through. I can't stress enough the outstanding effort and commitment that has been given by each finalist."
He added "I also want to make it clear that this is not just about talent - each player is incredibly talented and each player offered us unique skills. In the end it was about assembling the best team, selecting guys who we felt would be able to best play the kind of style we envision this team playing."
The rest of the players who are included to the team are: Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, DeMarcus Cousins, Klay Thompson, Andre Drummond, Rudy Gay, DeMar DeRozan, Kenneth Faried and Mason Plumlee.
The US Team still has the option to change their line up in case of injury and ebergency but they only have until Friday to do so. That is the reason why they had originally decided to add members to the team.
Coach Mike Krzyzewski said "'We feel that it's better to go with 12 because that's really difficult on anybody if they're not going to be on the team to travel that far."
