Fans of the show Pretty Little Liars are going to be shocked when they find out what happens to the summer finale of their favorite show. Warning to those who have not seen the series finale, we're going to be discussing a Pretty Little Liars season finale recap, and tons of spoilers are up ahead.
The episode begins on Thanksgiving Day, and we are taken into a crime scene, with the police force interrogating each of the girls about what had just occurred.
We see all the main stars standing together, Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Emily (Shay Mitchell), Hanna (Ashley Benson), and Aria (Lucy Hale), being talked into making their statements about the crime. But what we don't know yet is who has been killed.
For weeks the show had been teasing audiences about the bloody episode that was going to be the "fatal finale." And for weeks as well, fans speculated about who will be the next victim in Rosewood to die by A's hands.
It turns out that Mona was the unfortunate one. The character was on the brink of a major tell all, as she was shown on the phone talking to Aria just about ready to exposing Alison is A. Just then a hoodie-hidden killer with blond hair sneaks up from behind her, and then the killing happened.
Social media reacted swiftly and decidedly after the episode aired, with the hashtag #RIPMona, quickly becoming a trending topic.
Even Mona herself, played by the actress Jannel Parrish took to Twitter to express her reaction to the murder. "MONA MURDERED. Yep. It's true :( Don't worry guys! I'm still gonna be on the show in flashbacks!!!! #PLLChat" the actress tweeted.
The Pretty Little Liars producers had been hinting for weeks that the finale would be "thrilling, sad and shocking." True enough, just as when viewers were starting to care for Mona, who was portrayed before as one of the antagonists, but had since taken a turn for the good, she gets offed.
According to producers, this shocking Pretty Little Liars summer finale also drops major hints about the upcoming Christmas special, so better watch out for clues!
