The new star of The Bachelor has been named; he is a Farmer, Chris Soules. He is the fan favorite The Bachelorette contestant, who caught the viewer's heart, but did not win Andi Dorfman's heart. The Bachelor considered Soules as the frontrunner for the show, but ABC took two weeks to announce the news on Good Morning America.
Usually the new star of the show is announced during the After the Final Rose episode that sets the end of each season. This time, ABC broke the tradition. The host Chris Harrison quickly admitted that Soules was the new Bachelor, while Soules sat in the audience, but did not call him the new star. There were weeks of rumors that the reality show considered Nick Viall, the vet runner-up, former contestant Arie Luyendyk, Jr. or
someone else completely to take the wheel of The Bachelor.
Though, in the end, the show selected Soules, a farmer and football fanatic who had caught the eyes of the audience with his romantic gestures, All-American good looks and wholesome charms. Though, more importantly, Soules is the former contestant, Juan Pablo Galavis, anti-thesis, who was received poorly by Bachelor fans, who view him as someone just interested to hit the Fantasy Suite wit many women as possible, arrogant and rude.
It was Luyendyk who broke the news, by an official announcement on GMA, with great fanfare, he tweeted, "I'm not the Bachelor, and have fun on the farm people."
After the network confirmed that Soules got the job, they are now busy searching for contestants, able and willing to move with Soules to Arlinton, Iowa and be a farmer's wife. The producers told People about their seal of approval on Soules personal journey to love, "Chris has the whole package. He is the all-American guy who is a farmer, who does not look like a farmer, but he's also successful and he's ready for a family. He's going to be a great husband and a great father."
The contestants of the show won't just have to vie with each other for Soules's love. He's a celebrity in Iowa, even politicians are chasing up to him. Presidential hopeful Rick Perry and Texas Governor are happy to meet this bachelor farmer during the Iowa State Fair.
