With 'Penny Dreadful' season 2 already in production, updates and teasers from the show's cast and crew keep popping up in social media sites and blogs.
Last time, producer Christopher King revealed the first episode's title, 'Fresh Hell,' through a Twitter photo of John Logan's script. He called it "fanstastic," sharing the same excitement that Reeve Carney who plays Dorian Gray felt when he first read the script.
King also treated fans to a sneak peek of the props to be used on set-a table full of skulls drying on a table-making fans even more excited for next season.
This time, it's the makeup department's turn to tease eager 'Dreadfuls.'
King retweeted Sarita Allison's post boasting about the show's prosthetics progression.
"Another brilliant day #makeuptesting @SHO_Penny @chriswking #makeupfx #prosthetics #PennyDreadful :-)," the Tweet read.
According to Allison, the crew started lifecasting last month-creating casts from live people to create more personalized prosthetics for the 'Penny Dreadful' season 2 actors.
Who would need prosthetics this season?
Several new creatures were introduced towards the end of season one, the most intriguing of which would be Caliban's (Rory Kinnear) possible new bride and werewolf Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett). Viewers are also looking forward to how Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) and his band of mysterious troublemakers will deal with the nests of vampiric monsters in the second season.
However, season two's biggest threat will come in the form of humans. Helen McCroy (Madame Kali) and Simon Russell Beale (Ferdinand Lyle) were announced as series regulars during the San Diego Comic Con last July.
Producers showed a deleted scene from season one featuring Madame Kali making her evil intentions for Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) quite clear during the panel, promising fans that she will appear in the second season as the main villain.
"What games we'll have, Miss Ives and I, when one will live and one will die," the mysterious spiritualist told Ferdinand Lyle in the clip, according to International Business Times.
Having a human villain doesn't mean that the show will slack off from the gritty supernatural elements that fans loved in its first season though.
Showrunner John Logan promised a "much more threatening supernatural world" for 'Penny Dreadful' season 2.
The show's sophomore season is expected to air next year.
