Good news DC fans! It seems that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has answered the question of which DC character will he play in the DC Cinematic Universe.

In his latest tweet on his Twitter account, The Rock officially announced that he will play the super villain Black Adam in the Shazam movie.

It was reported before that DC would be ramping up their comic book movie output by announcing a full slate of movies leading all the way up to Man of Steel 2 in 2018. Warner Bros. has officially announce there upcoming films at Comic Con last July. Amongst the Justice League centric list, and set for a July 2016 release, is Shazam aka Captain Marvel, allegedly the most popular hero of the 1940's and he has been enjoying a steady increase in exposure thanks to the New 52 reboot and the Injustice: Gods Among Us video game. More interestingly though, is who exactly the studio will look at for the role. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been circling the DC universe for quite some time and, as we reported at the end of April, might just be the perfect fit. He's certainly got the look, not to mention the build, and if this tweet is anything to go by, he's certainly keen on the role:

And in an interview with Total Film, he seems to hint that he could play Black Adam in the movie.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Shazam will not be a part of the Justice League in the DC Cinematic Universe.

According to reports fro Screenrant, New Line Cinema president Toby Emmerich stated that Shazam will not be a Justice League character.

“It feels to me like Shazam will have a tone unto itself,” he explains. “It’s a DC comic, but it’s not a Justice League character, and it’s not a Marvel comic. The tone and the feeling of the movie will be different from the other range of comic book movies… [It] will have a sense of fun and a sense of humor. But the stakes have to be real.”

Screenrant hinted that there are three ways to sum up Emmerich's comments: 1. He doesn't know his comic book history (totally possible for a studio exec); 2. He misspoke (a publicist’s best defense); 3. He just revealed that the Shazam movie is not connected to the upcoming Justice League movie.

The Shazam movie is slated to be released on July 2016.
