Floyd Mayweather Jr. Father and coach say that his son was distracted during his first fight with Marcos Maidana which ended a decision win for the champion.
The two boxers will have a rematch this coming September 13 with Floyd Sr. dismissing the first fight. He said "Floyd beat Maidana in the first fight and there's really nothing else to say. Maidana is going to get his butt whooped again, just in a more fashionable way this time around."
Floyd Sr. was also a former boxer turned trainer to a couple of other stars said that he did make some adjustments to Mayweather Jr.'s training. He said "I am going to have Floyd do a lot of things differently in this fight than he did during the first fight."
But what caught the media's eye was when Floyd Sr. revealed that something was going on inside Floyd Jr's mind that kept him distracted during the first fight. He said "I am going to tell you something, something was on Floyd's mind that day and the Lord is my witness. He finally came around and told us all what it was about. Floyd is going to give Maidana a boxing clinic this time around."
But just like any juicy story, Sr. didn't bother to divulge the information that kept Jr preoccupied during the match.
On the other hand, rumors of the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight have been looming.
Bob Arum has said that both HBO and Showtime are very interested with the fight saying "they can find a way to promote and satisfy both sides from a legal basis."
He added "With Showtime wanting the fight and HBO wanting it and Manny and Top Rank wanting the fight, there is one little step to take and that's to see where Floyd stands and we're optimistic that this time, Floyd will bite the bullet and do the fight on equitable terms. I think it's going to happen and I am very optimistic (of it taking place)."
Pacquiao believes that Mayweather won't have any choice but to give in to the pressure saying "He doesn't have a choice but to accept."
But the American superstar Mayweather has a different answer to the question. He said "If Pacquiao signed with Mayweather Promotions, then the fight could happen. But if he's not signed to Mayweather Promotions, I'm not gonna fight (him)."
