The Iron Man actor is a poster boy for coming out of a drug addiction and turning his life around. The actor has since become a household name for appearing in the ridiculously successful Marvel movies Iron Man and The Avengers as billionaire playboy Tony Stark. The actor is very popular not just among the fan boys but among the ladies too, because not only is the actor ruggedly handsome, he is witty and intelligent as well, and Robert Downey Jr. quotes make the rounds of social media regularly.
The 49-year old actor recently sat down for an interview for Vanity Fair magazine's October 2014 cover story where he opened up about his past, and the present issues and blessing he is experiencing in life right now. He also did an endearing photoshoot with his son Exton. When asked about his much publicized stint in rehab, the actor said that it was important not just to get out of rehab, but to stay out of rehab. "Job one is get out of that cave. A lot of people do get out but don't change," Downey shares. That is one Robert Downey Jr. quote that will be useful to anyone struggling with substance abuse, and one that his son might find benefit from.
Indio Downey, the actor's 20-year old son recently made headlines after being arrested for possible drug possession.
Regarding this issue, Downey admits that the problem may have been inherited from him. "He's his mother's son and my son, and he's come up the chasm much quicker than we did," says Downey. "Can you help someone get out of those woods? Yes, you can. By not getting lost looking for them."
As for the current positive developments in his life, Downey says that he is excited for his new film, The Judge, which is the first offering from the production company Team Downey, which he and wife Susan started. Downey shares, "It was the least likely first Team Downey project, but there was something in the process that was so provocative. I'd find myself tearing up during every work session, because of constellations being lit by the subject matter, this idea of going home, what it is to return, fractured relationships, the drama of it. It was a big experiment-with Susan's cred and my bit of leverage. How do we do it when we get the opportunity? O.K., here's all the rope, guys."
The actor is also over the moon about the new baby girl that he and wife Susan are expecting this November, and he looks forward to installing two car seats in his family vehicle.
