'Hannibal' showrunner Brian Fuller thinks NBC's plans for a 'Heroes Reborn' mini-series is a great idea.
In an interview with IGN Entertainment, the producer fondly reminisced his time as consulting producer for the original 'Heroes' series' first season in 2006.
"That first season of Heroes, working in the writer's room with Jesse Alexander and Jeph Loeb and Michael Green and Joe Pokaski and Aron Coleite was such a fantastic creative experience," he said.
He added, "And one that was so unique because there was a lot of really creative people who were very invested in making the best show they possibly could. So I remember that first season very fondly, and I think it was creatively very successful for the show."
With such fond memories of the original show, would he approve of the 13-episode 'Heroes Reborn' that NBC is planning?
"I would love to see that dynamic and energy reborn in a new series," the producer continued.
He added that he would really want to see Hayden Panettiere, Jack Coleman, and Ali Larter play Claire Bennet, HRG, and Niki Sanders again, respectively.
"I would love to see the show come back and inspire again," Fuller shared.
When asked if 'Heroes Reborn' could live up to the original's former glory, the 'Pushing Daisies' producer admits that "it's absolutely possible."
"I would love to see 'Heroes' restored to the respect it had in that first season," he said. "I think that would be wonderful. The show certainly deserves it, and I would love to see it."
NBC expects to air 'Heroes Reborn' next year. Jack Coleman has already been confirmed as the first character to reprise his role from the first series.
Although Milo Ventimiglia, Zachary Quinto, and Ali Larter have all announced that they won't be coming back as mainstays, fans are still hoping to catch a glimpse of them as guest stars for the new mini-series.
