NBC announced that Chris Pratt will host SNL (Saturday Night Live) on September 27. This will be the 40th year of the show so there will be a gala primetime celebration on that day. The 35-year old actor is one of the most in demand celebrities in Hollywood right now, but his humble beginnings started in the network.

The TV show shared the good news on Twitter by posting: "Very excited to announce our season premiere on Sept 27th will be hosted by Chris @prattprattpratt with music from @ArianaGrande!! #SNL40". The "Guardians of the Galaxy" star also showed his excitement about the hosting stint on social media. Chris Pratt wrote on Twitter, "Hosting SNL! That was high on the bucket list! Right up there with hunting human. Hey @bibbymoynihan Are you a fast runner?"

Comedian Bobby Moynihan replied to Pratt, "@prattprattpratt No. But I can catch an arrow from a crossbow at a hundred yards so.... Let's do this thing." Fans reacted to Chris Pratt's SNL hosting stint with one follower writing, "Congrats, Chris!! I can't wait to watch you kill it on the season premiere!"

Before Chris Pratt became a box-office superstar, he was more known as Andy Dwyer in the NBC comedy "Parks and Recreation", which started airing in 2009. Now the actor is more known as Peter Quill a.k.a Star-Lord in the Marvel blockbuster "Guardians of the Galaxy".

The husband of Anna Farris can be seen next in "Jurassic World", which is scheduled to hit the theaters on June 12, 2015. Chris Pratt will be joined by singing sensation Ariana Grande, who is currently promoting her new album "My Everything".

Apart from Ariana Grande, SNL alumni Bill Murray may also be appearing at the 40th anniversary of the show. SplitSider reported that local NBC affiliate sites have removed the post that says: "The one and only Bill Murray will be making a glorious return to SNL to help ring in its 40th year on the air." Let's hope that the "Ghostbusters" star will show up at the premiere of the new series.
