Former "Dawson's Creek" actree Katie Holmes will have another role up her sleeve. She has revealed that she will be having her directorial debut in the film "All We Had."

The film, which follows the life of a mother and daughter who may be broke but who have both found respite in their small town, according to Travelers Today.

Holmes released an official statement confirming the news and said, "I am very excited and honored to be collaborating with Jane and Josh on this project and look so forward to bringing Annie's incredible characters to the screen."

The actress will also star in the said film and will be playing the role of the mother, Rita Carmichael, who sacrifices everything she could for the sake of her 13-year-old daughter, Ruthie, Aceshowbiz reported.

Other characters in the film would include, "Peter Pam, a transgender waitress; Hank and Dotty Hanson, owners of a hardware store; Patti, their nosy neighbor; and Vick Ward, a wily mortgage broker who talks Rita into signing up for a subprime loan that inevitably leads to some misfortune," Bustle noted.

Meanwhile, Jane Rosenthal will be producing the film alongside Holmes herself. In a statement, Rosenthal said, "Katie has such a clear vision for the book's irreverent, original mother-daughter relationship. Her passion for the material, along with Josh Boone's ability to tell stories grounded in the comedy and drama of everyday, will truly bring these characters to life."
