New "Boondock Saints 3" update features Norman Reedus as he dishes about his role as Murphy in the second sequel "Boondock Saints 2" cult classic, and how he and Sean Flannery gave life to the vigilante brothers. He says that the movie became such a hit because people knew it was made especially for them.
Hopeful Monster had this to share for their feature, which they wrote following an interview with the actor back in 2010. The hunky "The Walking Dead" actor bared his heart and soul during their discussion. He only had straightforward answers to give about the following topics:
On his character as Murphy and the vigilante brothers
When Norman explained that his personality was more fitting for Murphy, he also unwittingly admitted that Connor was the older of the two - and because Sean was older, it was only apt that he plays older brother Connor to Murphy's character. He said that the script was hot, so many actors, including him, were lined up for his part. Troy Duffy, the director rooted for him from the start.
In reprising his character for the second franchise, the actor was incredulous, saying to himself, "Is this really happening?" He had wanted to make improvements on his character by working on bettering his Irish accent.
He said that he particularly likes the masculinity of the brothers. He went on to explain that the plot line revolved around distinct community with men belonging to a specific generation.
On the popularity of the movie
Although a present "Boondock Saints 3" update with Norman Reedus detailing aspects about the flick and his role has yet to become reality, the actor explained how the popularity of the original movie gave birth to "All Saints Day," the second sequel. He said that despite critics' reviews, Troy and the rest of their team went on to create the movie that would fit their fans' taste.
He referred to the film as a sort of people's movie whose fame relied heavily on satisfied viewers, as they passed it on by word of mouth and sharing DVD's. The actor noted that focusing on making the movie for the people was all that mattered, critics' reviews notwithstanding.
On his ideas for Boondock Saints 3
"Boondock Saints 3" update with Norman Reedus in the spotlight will never be complete without the actor's thoughts on the rumored upcoming third sequel. According to Screenrant, the actor had first claimed that production was underway. Then all of a sudden he shocked everyone when he declared that it would not materialize anymore due to creative differences.
However, just recently, Troy had opened up about the plot details of "Boondock Saints 3" subtitled "The Legion." Will Norman still be a part of it? Are discussions concerning the film's development and his participation ongoing?
Well, fans will find out soon enough in the next update.
