Netflix has confirmed that it will be airing all seven seasons of "Gilmore Girls" in an exclusive streaming pact.
This means that all "Gilmore Girls" fans will have the opportunity to enjoy watching all 153 episodes and the first episode will be available starting October 1, according to Variety.
The series follows the life of a mother and daughter tandem, Lorelai Gilmore and Rory, played by actress Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel respectively. It was produced by David Rosenthal and was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino.
"Gilmore Girls" was on air from 2000 to 2006 on TheWB network and was transferred to the CW from 2006 to 2007.
Indie Wire meanwhile published an article that featured a handful of reasons why Netflix may have given the series the green light.
The publication noted that the series may be considered a "career launcher" for both of its lead stars. Following the success of "Gilmore Girls," Graham joined the cast of "Parenthood" and Bledel made a name for herself in "Sin City" and "Mad Men."
"Gilmore Girls" was also used as another great example of "auteur TV." "Hailing from the same era of television that made Joss Whedon and Aaron Sorkin into incons, 'Gilmore Girls' featured many of the same qualities that made 'Buffy' and 'West Wing' so beloved - great actors, quality production values and dialogue so distinctive that you could pick it out of a line-up, blindfolded."
Additionally, the publication noted that the series was underappreciated during its time and may also be consider underappreciated today.
"One cause for that, it has to be said, may come down to the fact that it was a show about women, starring women and created by a woman - an equation which has a hard time adding up to respect in a culture focused on celebrating the middle-aged male antihero."
