"Finding Nemo 2" cast news update reveal that the sequel will feature "The Wire" actors as the clown fish, which has become the movie's inspiration, is now closer to the endangered list.
The TIME magazine reported the latest "Finding Nemo 2" cast news update as it said that Idris Elba and Dominic West, who played Russell 'Stringer' Bell and Det. James 'Jimmy' McNulty, respectively, in the highly touted "The Wire" TV series, will be lending their voices to the film.
The magazine said that there could be "The Wire" references as Pixas has been noted to include Easter eggs on its animated films just like Stephen King's "The Shining" in "Toy Story 3" and Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey in "WALL-E."
The website Shortlist confirmed the "Finding Nemo 2" cast news update when it talked to Dominic West.
"I saw Idris recently. We're both in the sequel to 'Finding Nemo,' so we were recording that. I'm in pretty regular contact with a lot of guys from 'The Wire' - a lot of them are godparents to my kids, so I love them dearly," he said.
"Finding Nemo 2" will have an alternate title 'Finding Dory' and according to the plot synopsis published on Screen Crush the story "take place about a year after the first film, and feature returning favorites Marlin, Nemo and the Tank Gang, among others. Set in part along the California coastline, the story also welcomes a host of new characters, including a few who will prove to be a very important part of Dory's life."
Meanwhile, the clown fish, which is the inspiration for "Finding Nemo," is moving dangerously closer to the endangered species list, said E News Park Forest.
In a statement by the National Marine Fisheries Service, the clown fish is at risk because of global warming and ocean acidification, which means it's now undergoing review if it will be included in the U.S. Endangered Species Act.
"Finding Nemo's getting harder as global warming and acidifying oceans destroy the coral reefs the clownfish calls home," Shaye Wolf, climate science director at the Center, said in a statement.
