Robin Thicke Reveals Why Paula Patton Left Him; ‘Blurred Lines’ Truth Exposed

Singer Robin Thicke revealed that he suffered from a drug and alcohol problem during the year of 2013, according to the NY Daily News.

The "Blurred Lines" singer also revealed that his issues eventually led to the demise of his eight-year marriage with now ex-wife Paula Patton.

"I told my wife the truth. That's why she left me," revealed Thicke.

The 37-year-old also confessed that he was high on drugs and alcohol when his hit track "Blurred Lines" was written, court depositions obtained by The Hollywood Reporter reportedly show.

"I was high on Vicodin and alcohol when I showed up at the studio," Thicke explained when asked if he was present during the creation of the hit.

According to his deposition, Thicke continued, "I thought I wanted to be more involved than I actually was by the time, nine months later, it became a huge hit and I wanted credit. So I started kind of convincing myself that I was a little more part of it than I was and I - because I didn't want him - I wanted some credit for this big hit. But the reality is, is that Pharrell had the beat and he wrote almost every single part of the song."

Thicke reportedly added that he was just "lucky enough to be in the room."

Robin Thicke, who has been the center of controversy due to his recent divorce from Paula Patton and the accusations surrounding "Blurred Lines," initially stated that he and Pharrell were on the same page when writing the track.

"Pharrell and I were in the studio and I told him that one of my favorite songs of all time was Marvin Gaye's 'Got To Give It Up.' I was like 'Damn, we should make something like that, something with that groove.' Then he started playing a little something and we literally wrote the song in about a half hour and recorded it," Thicke told GQ magazine in May 2013.

Despite Thicke's little involvement in making the hit song, Pharrell reportedly still allowed the singer to be given co-writer credit.

"This is what happens every day in our industry. You know, people are made to look like they have much more authorship in the situation than they actually do. So that's where the embellishment comes in," stated Pharrell.
