The NFL has been plagued with controversies this year ranging from domestic violence cases and drug test failures form players.
Now, the organization is taking one step further to improve their standards and has come up with the revisions of their drug policy. After much a due, the final challenge of the new policy is now finally over as it has finally been cleared and approved by the NFL Players Association.
Among the changes that were made to the new drug policy includes a less-strict policy on drugs which incorporates a change on how the league tests for amphetamines and marijuana. Aside from this the policy has also included the first ever testing for human growth hormone.
Basing from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the decision to approve the new policy was unanimous as all of the 32 representatives approved it. After this, both the league and union must finalize the terms and conditions of the policy which also includes a final vote from all of the MFLPA members.
NFLPA President Eric Winston in a released statement said "This is an historic moment for our Players and our League. We have collectively bargained drug policies that will keep the game clean and safe, but also provide our players with an unprecedented level of fairness and transparency. Players should be proud of their union for standing up for what was best for the game."

This means that Wes Welker and Josh Gordon are the direct recipients of the policy change. Welker who was suspended for four games for Adderall usage will be able to return and play within this week while Gordon's suspension was reduces to 10 games. Gordon has been suspended for the whole 2014 season following a positive drug test while already part of the NFL's drug program.
