Ricky Rubio stats: hopes for better future with Timberwolves after Kevin Love Lose

Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio recently talked to Yahoo Sports about the recently concluded FIBA World Cup, his team the Timberwolves as well as losing Kevin Love from the Team.

According to Rubio it was hard for him to watch the game between the US National Team and Serbia knowing that his national Team, Spain was one of the crowd favorites to spar with the US. According to him "I don't know if I'm going to watch the game yet. It's really tough right now. Everybody was talking about basketball here in Spain ... and we had one bad day and everything went away."

Rubio hails from Spain and it is understandable why he felt that way. His nationalistic spirit is telling him that they had a chance but they lost it a t one point of the tournament.

On the other hand, Rubio also talked about the struggles that the Timberwolves experience during last season. Rubio is reaching out to new team mate Andrew Wiggins after losing one of their key players, Kevin Love.

He said "We had a pretty good, pretty amazing first season together. But then we were unlucky, had a lot of injuries, and that cut the rhythm, the momentum, that we had started with together. If nobody got hurt, we could've made it to the playoffs and maybe have gone farther together. But the injuries started, and kept going, and we never could keep what we had."

According to Rubio, he never had the chance to talk to Love even before the trade talks came in. During a trip to Los Angeles after the Timberwolves season ended, he thought of talking to Love but it never pushed through, and neither will it ever happen now.

He said "If he wanted to leave, there's no reason to talk to him about it. I really liked playing with him, but I'll play with the players who want to be there. Kevin wants to win. That's normal. He's been there six years without the playoffs. I understand. If I was in the same situation - being one of the best players in the league - and not being able to be in the playoffs, I'd have a lot of frustration, too."

He added "The last couple years there have been a lot of questions. It is hard - even if the team is good - the media always talks about it. You don't want to think about it, but everyone is always talking about your main guy this way. And it becomes harder to be focused. Right now, we have to play with the players we have."
