Christy Mack attended a charity event on Saturday night for the first time after the August 8 assault allegedly carried out by her ex-boyfriend War Machine, according to The Huffington Post.

Mack had continuously shared images of her recovery on her Instagram account, showing images of her state two days after the assault, then two weeks later and four weeks later.

Over the weekend, the porn star attended the charity event Face Forward, which helps pay for reconstructive surgeries for victims of violence. She has reportedly stated that her own procedures are not being covered by the organization but are being donated by other doctors.

"While my face is starting to look decent again from the swelling going down, it is still not my own. Cutting what was left of my hair off, and losing 15lbs (it's a lot when you're 5'1'') made me feel even further away from myself. It's hard to look in the mirror every day and see someone you do not know," wrote Christy Mack.

She added that the chance to dress up and put makeup on for the event "made me feel more normal, and beautiful for the first time in a very long time."

Despite her continuous recovery, the 23-year-old revealed that she has a while to go before fully recovering, according to the Toronto Sun.

"It was a little bit of a rough recovery. It has been a little over a month now. I was in a lot of pain but now I'm just feeling really good. I just have a couple more surgeries to go," stated Mack.
