It's undeniable that with the release of the new iPhone 6, tech junkies around the world are itching to get their hands on the newest release. Samsung will reportedly launch a new flagship mobile device soon, and all that talk online is getting fans excited.

But before all the smartphones available today, people were not exactly crazy about large screens, high-resolution cameras and displays, and battery life was not really a problem.

Throwback to 90s phones (and early 2000s), where the "in" thing was to own any of these devices:

Nokia 5110

This could be the first mobile phone the catapulted Nokia to their worldwide success. Released in 1998, the 5110 was the go-to phone for many. Who can forget playing Snake on their handset?

Motorola StarTAC

The StarTac was released in 1996. According to Gajitz.com, "French company Lëkki is taking the world back to the 90s with their brilliant marketing plan to reissue the same kind of old mobile handsets that most of us carried proudly 15 years ago - which is like three centuries in phone years."

Ericsson T28s

One of the smallest mobile phones back then, the T28s was released in 1999. Acoording to Wikipedia, "The T28 was the lightest and slimmest mobile phone at the time, with a weight of only 81 grams."

"Unlike mobile phones of the time (1999-2001) it had a fixed, stubby external antenna. It was probably best known as the first phone that usedlithium polymer batteries. At one point, it was the best selling mobile phone in America."

Alcatel One Touch Easy db

Released in 2000, this mobile phone was a hit among the younger crowd because of the stunning colors it came in. This phone also worked with AAA batteries, so worrying about running out of power won't be a problem.

Nokia 3310

Now who can forget about this phone? It has proven to be a cult classic with memes dedicated to its awesomeness. The 3310 was released in 2000 and was a successor to the antenna-less 3210. Owners of this phone know how playing Space Impact, Snake II and Bantumi were the ultimate time-killers back then.

The phone was customizable too. Casings can be changed, ring tones can be composed and screensavers can be modified.

The iPhone 6 and the Samsung Galaxy phones are some of this generation's highly talked about phones. But back in the day, these 5 mobile phones were the bomb.
