Finally, Apple's iOS 8 is coming. But before jumping in, here are some tips about installing iCloud Drive in the new operating system. The iCloud Drive, which will be released together with iOS8 as part of the brand's new connection features, is a cloud-based app which files can be stored like Dropbox and Google Drive. It lets users to share files using the apps on multiple OS X and iOS devices. However, there's a catch, the iCloud Drive can only be used with iOs mobiles operating iOS 8 and OS XYosemite of Mac.
According to Nick Fletcher, "As OS X Yosemite is still pre-release (and not yet available) upgrading to iCloud Drive will prevent you from syncing with Clear for Mac until both OS X Yosemite is released and you upgrade to OS X Yosemite," he wrote. "Developers cannot work around the choice made when upgrading to iOS 8, so please make sure you pay close attention to the iCloud Drive screen shown after you update to iOS 8." Users may want to postpone installation of the app after its update to iOS 8, one of the major moves in the set up process.
From the main settings menu in iOS, the Yosemite is available and can enable iCloud Drive, just by doing some easy steps like -> iCloud-> iCloud Drive. At this stage, the concrete syncing process may take a while; Apple will have to transfer the files to new servers.
Fletcher added, "In our testing, the iCloud Drive migration has taken anything from a few seconds to up to an hour. This is something that Apple controls, and given the large number of users upgrading to iCloud Drive there may be a short delay while everything gets migrated on Apple's part. "
Although, Apple has not disclosed a specific date for the launch of Yosemite, this year will be its roll out.
