Nicolle Wallace Rosie Perez The View Cast: ‘Monumental Clash Of Egos’ O’Donnell, Wallace Have An ‘On-Air, Off-Air’ Obama Squabble While ABC Execs Reportedly Clash Over ‘Vision Of The Show’. Nicolle Wallace Rosie Perez The View Cast. According to emerging reports, the new The View is off to an exceptional start according to ratings with the addition of two new co-hosts Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace. However, former White House consultant Wallace and Rosie O’Donnell confronted each other on the set and continued the spat off air. All this, while power-hungry ABC executives are lobbying to oversee the hit show.
The clash began when Republican Wallace commented on the air, ‘Obama doesn’t love people.’ And O’Donnell rebounded with, “When Kanye West says, ‘I don’t think President Bush cares about black people,’ it’s like an international incident. But you can say that you don’t think Obama likes people?”
The retorts escalated until Executive Producer pulled the two co-hosts aside, asking them to ‘calm down.’
Simultaneously, a behind-the-scenes power struggle between ABC Daytime and ABC News continue to claim the time slot and, in turn, the credit for the show. Sources close to the story told Pagesix.com, “ABC News head James Goldston and Daytime head Lisa Hackner are fighting over who gets control of ‘The View,’ ” adding, “the situation has become so fraught that [Disney/ABC senior VP] Abra Potkin had to step in. It is a monumental clash of egos.”
A representative for ABC, however, disowned claims of a power struggle or a real conflict between O’Donnell and Wallace, citing it as a publicity stunt to raise controversy for the show. She reiterated “The View” falls under the ABC Entertainment division run by Paul Lee. Hackner, the senior VP of Daytime, reports to Lee,” in a pagesix.com online report.
