Joan Rivers news reported that a supposed leaked "final" recording of the late comedienne is a fake, said her rep. According to a report from Daily Mail, the alleged publicity stunt for upcoming show "My Son the Waiter" is being blasted for disrespecting the memory of the former "Fashion Police" host.
An earlier report from Daily Mail said the TV icon could be heard "coughing and complaining" about her voice in what was supposedly the last recording before her untimely death.
The audio clip was reportedly a test recording for Brad Zimmerman, a friend who occasionally opens shows for the comedienne, for an off-Broadway show entitled "My Son the Waiter".
In it, the 81-year-old comic turned fashion critic could be heard saying: "My voice has been bothering me. I don't know what it is."
"I feel like s**t. I'm tired already," she added.
Joan Rivers news revealed that she visited Yorkville Endoscopy after the said test recording. E!Online reported weeks ago about how the comedienne stopped breathing during a minor endoscopic procedure at the said medical facility.
Joan Rivers died on September 4, a week later, at the age of 81.
The supposed final recording of Joan Rivers has been circulating since Tuesday, and now the late star's rep, Judy Katz, clarified with New York Post: "The recording is a fraud. Joan never made any such tape."
"This is a publicity stunt that was created by Brad Zimmerman and his public relations representative, Beck Lee, and is wholly disrespectful to the memory of Joan Rivers," she added.
Beck Lee has issued a statement on the allegation, telling Daily Mail:"On behalf of the production of My Son the Waiter we regret that the tape we were given is not authentic. We believed that it was, especially because we knew that it was Joan's wish to take care of Brad."
The PR rep also cleared Brad Zimmerman from the issue: "He had nothing to do with this situation. Offending Joan or her memory is the last thing he would do."
The statement said in closing, reported by Daily Mail: "If offense is taken by an inauthentic recording being distributed, by either Joan's family colleagues or fans, we regret this. We accepted the recording from its source purely because we believed Joan's wish to support Brad was being honored by its creation and distribution."
