Trump Plaza Closing Atlantic City Casino Hotel: Taj Mahal Next? ‘The Donald’ ‘Atlantic City was a place that I really loved’, Mulls Rescue To Save ‘Trump’ Brand Name. Trump Plaza casinos and hotels, a coveted luxury venue for boxing events, gambling, wrestle mania sports events and adorned suites, rang a bell with visitors with the ‘Big Apple’ in close proximity. It was frequented by A-list entertainers second only to Las Vegas showrooms and appeared in the blockbuster of 2011, ‘Ocean’s Eleven.’

But the bad news may not end here with the Trump Plaza being the fourth Atlantic casino closing and pinning one-third of casinos closed in Atlantic City. Next in queue for shuttering down is the Taj Mahal, another famous Donald Trump-inspired gambling and resort hotel. By November the Taj will have to meet union demands in order for a rescue.

Many locals and Atlantic City investors are hoping that ‘The Donald Trump’ will ‘buy back in’ to keep Atlantic City casinos afloat after mass layoffs amounting to 11,000 are expected by the end of the year.

Mr. Trump commented on Twitter that after he left the casinos in Atlantic City, they were run poorly. And he would be interested in regaining his old acquisitions at a cheaper price. “I think everyone knows that I'm gone,” Donald Trump was quoted as saying by Bloomberg TV via the Christian Science Monitor last month, “Atlantic City was a place that I really loved; you know, I did it for a long time in Atlantic City. But a lot of people say when I left, that's when it went bad. And in one way, I'm honored by that statement, but in another way, I feel badly about Atlantic City.”

Donald Trump noted, "I left Atlantic City years ago, good timing. Now I may buy back in, at much lower price, to save Plaza & Taj. They were run badly by funds," CSM.com reports.

Mr. Trump may have to risk losing the reputation of his name brand, which many of the casinos are called by. Though he owns just 10% of Trump Entertainment, he has asked the company to remove his name from the company label, since ‘The Donald Trump’ brand has developed into a quality brand, guaranteeing top-notch service and luxury.
