Miss American winner Kira Kazantsev has finally opened up following previous allegations that claimed she was directly involved in physically hazing and degrading would-be members of the sorority, Alpha Phi.

The 23-year-old appeared on "Good Morning America" to counter Jezebel's reports that she was involved in "dirty hazing," Slate reported.

"I was involved with some of those activities while I was at Hofstra and I came in as an impressionable freshman. Everybody wants to be a part of something and at that time, unfortunately, that was just the culture of the university. I was hazed and I was kind of brought up through the organization thinking that that's appropriate behavior when clearly, I'm two years removed from the organization today and I understand, that that's just not true," she explained.

Jezebel was first to report that Kazantsev, was now the third Miss New York to have won the pageant but who have also made the lives of recruits "a living hell."

During her time, Kazantsev acted as the head of recruitment for the Alpha Phi sorority where she was tasked to abuse and belittle recruits. A source confirmed that the Miss America winner engaged in name-calling and physically hurt other people, according to the NY Daily News.

Back in April of 2013, Kazantsev was evicted from the sorority after she made a joke in an email that she claimed was "taken out of context."

The joke, according to her, was "that we would make the evening scary for the pledges, when that never came to fruition, when none of those things that I've been accused of ever happened or were ever intended to happen."

Jezebel meanwhile reported, "When someone reported Kazantsev and her friend for "dirty pledging," Hofstra didn't turn a blind eye. After a month-long investigation into their actions, our source says the pair was expelled from Alpha Phi in 2013 and told they could no longer participate in any sorority activities, including the end-of-year formal."
