Chef Gordon Ramsay has arrived in Singapore to look for a new apprentice. In a report by Channel News Asia, the "Hell's Kitchen" star also explains why he thinks "cooking is a passion, not a job".
The winner of Chef Gordon Ramsay's apprentice search in Singapore will have the opportunity to work with the culinary master turned reality TV personality. The winner's first project will be Chef Gordon Ramsay's upcoming restaurant, Bread Street Kitchen. It will open at Marina Bay Sands during the first half of next year.
The controversial chef gained popularity for his "tough love" mentorship in hit reality cooking shows such as "Hell's Kitchen", "Kitchen Nightmares" and "MasterChef".
When asked by Channel News Asia about advice for aspiring chefs, Gordon Ramsay responded: "I would be brutally honest - cooking is a passion, it is not a job."
"The individual must have a great palate, and be able to cook under pressure," he said.
"When you are comfortable in the kitchen, you have to push yourself to the next level," the perfectionist chef added.
According to the report by Channel News Asia, Chef Gordon Ramsay shared in a press conference that he was "delighted" with his Singapore restaurant. "The further expansion into Asia is an exciting move for us and will see our successful London concepts being transferred and tailored to this new market," he explained.
Earlier this month, Drinks Business reported about the new Hong Kong restaurant of Chef Gordon Ramsay. Bread Street Kitchen ran under "soft opening" since September 8 and officially launched last September 18.
