Earlier this week, multiple sources reported that Emma Watson's nude photos will be leaked by the Internet hacking website 4chan.
Now, it has been confirmed that the news was just a mere hoax. In an unusual twist of events, the website Emmayouarenext.com wrote a letter to president Barack Obama and said that they were hired by celebrity publicists to help take down 4chan, according to SMH.
"We have been hired by celebrity publicists to bring this disgusting issue to attention. The recent 4chan celebrity nude leaks in the past 2 months have been an invasion of privacy and is also clear indication that the internet NEEDS to be censored," Emmayouarenext wrote.
"Every Facebook like, share & Twitter mention will count as a social signature - and will be step closer to shutting down www.4chan.org," the website added.
After the website has been setup earlier this week, it has already received more than 48 million visitors and has been shared seven million times on Facebook and has been mentioned three million times on Twitter, the same publication confirmed.
Prior to their admittance, Emmayouarenext went under the false moniker of Rantic Marketing and tweeted, "Dear humans, in the digital age we have a new kind of terror going on and it is called 4chan. Help us take down the terrorist group 4chan."
Meanwhile, the threat to release Watson's nude photos online came a day after she spoke about gender equality and feminism at the recently concluded United Nations General Assembly, Independent reported.
Watson, who was named Goodwill Ambassador for Women launched the HeForShe campaign. Thousands of people from all over the world supported the "Harry Potter" on her stand to promote gender equality for both men and women.
Tom Hiddlestone for instance, tweeted, "@EmmaWatson you are impeccable and extraordinary. I stand with you. I believe in gender equality. #heforshe," Boston Herald noted.
