"The Mindy Project season 3 news reveals that veteran comedian Rhea Perlman called cast Mindy Kaling a comic genius for the show, as she remains mum about future spoilers involving her character Annette Castellano.
The TVLine dished on the latest on "The Mindy Project season 3 news after interviewing Rhea Perlman who said that what drew her to the show was the writing.
"Their character development, it's not straightforward. You don't know which direction it's going to go in. It's very appealing. I'm going to do a few episodes this year, and already, I'm finding out stuff about this character that I would never have dreamed of," she said. "It's not just some mom who's sitting there, cooking dinner. I think Mindy's got kind of a genius thing going on. [Laughs] She really is so smart."
When TVLine asked her for more "The Mindy Project" season 3 news particularly episodes involving her character, Rhea Perlman said that Annette's "got a lot of secrets. She's got a lot of secrets, and [the writers] probably got a lot more secrets I don't know about!"
In the last episode, Dr. Mindy Kaling revealed her genius four-step plan in order to impress Danny's mom.
According to Cosmopolitan, the four-step plan involves complimenting Annette; find a common ground they can build upon; give a lot of gifts; agree with everything she says.
"All of Mindy's hard work unravels though, when Danny gives Ma her birthday gift - A brand new stove! Already installed! - and Ma is far less than grateful for it," the article said. "Ma is much happier with the teddy bear that her deadbeat son gifted her from Hudson News, and Mindy just can't stand by and watch this."
Gwen Ihnat of the AV Club, meanwhile, called the casting of Rhea Perlman as a genius move on the producers' part.
"The brilliance of the Castellano family casting continues with Rhea Perlman as the matriarch: Not only is she dead-on perfect as Danny's mother, she also played Dan Hedaya's wife decades ago on 'Cheers,'" she wrote.
