Lindsay Lohan Broadway performance in London fell a bit short with the critics. Apparently, the "Mean Girls" star has been accused of repeatedly forgetting her lines during her first show this week. However, she was quick to defend herself and insisted that her West End debut "could have been a disaster, but it wasn't."
Lindsay Lohan debuted in the Broadway industry on Wednesday night in a London production of "Speed-The-Plow" by David Mamet. However, the audience was not particularly impressed with how she delivered, as many claimed that the young star kept stumbling through her performance and that her struggle with having to remember her lines was quite obvious.
Moreover, the New York Daily news review mentioned that she delivered a "shaky" performance, and even "fumbled for words a few times." It also added that the "Confessions of A Shopaholic" actress "seemed to rely on a book she clutched as a prop that had some lines from the script scribbled in it."
The Daily Beast also did not spare her. The review said that "the audience was openly laughing at Lohan's struggle to grasp Mamet's sharp, trademark dialogue."
Lindsay Lohan, however, claims that she is happy with how her first night onstage went out. Although she did admit that she struggled a bit when it came to containing her nerves, she insisted that she did pretty well. She told Britain's Daily Mirror, "It could've been a disaster, but it wasn't by far. I could've not turned up. But, of course, I didn't. It's my show."
With regards to her bashers, she said, "Everyone is always going to be judgmental, no matter what. I respect people have an opinion, but I'm doing the best I can and will for the duration. I was nervous on the first night because I'd never done it before. But everyone working on the show has been really great. They've all been very kind, gracious and comforting."
Lindsay Lohan on "Speed-The-Plow" officially premieres at the Playhouse Theater on the 2nd of October.
