The CW's 'Jane The Virgin' is just one of the most talked about shows to premiere this fall. It garnered the best reviews from critics alongside 'The Flash.'
According to Deadline the CW has officially ordered additional scripts for the two shows, ahead of their respective debuts this October.
Gina Rodriguez, who plays the titular Jane in the Venezeulan telenovela adaptation has been noticed by critics and has been predicted to be this season's breakout star.
ET Online called Rodriguez the "it" star of this fall.
She had previously turned down Lifetime's 'Devious Maids' because she refused to take up roles that perpetuate a certain stereotype of Latina women.
"The idea of being a sacrificial lamb, or being a complicated actor really wasn't the truth; it was more for standing for what you believe in," the 29-year-old actress explained in a previous interview.
With her role in 'Jane The Virgin,' however, she hopes to create a character who young Latina girls can look up to.
Rodriguez plays the role of a 23-year-old virgin, Jane, who gets accidentally artificially inseminated with her first kiss' sperm sample thanks to a very tired and confused doctor. She also has to break her pregnancy to her fiancé, who doesn't take the news lightly at first.
Aside from being an inspiration to other Latina women, the NYU Tisch School for the Arts graduate is also the creator of I Can and I Will Productions. According to Cosmopolitan, the company aims to help original Latino productions and artists who lack resources realize their dreams.
She doesn't get sucked in by fame and riches either.
"I grew up with very humble beginnings. I learned at a really young age that money doesn't make me who I am," she told ET Online. "Driving nice cars and wearing fancy clothes doesn't make Gina awesome. Gina can make Gina awesome."
'Jane The Virgin' premieres on the CW on October 13.
