Zombieland 2 Full Movie: 'Godzilla' Screenwriter On Board To Write Sequel To Zombie Apocalypse Movie! But Will Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone And Jesse Eisenberg Be Back?

Zombies are the monsters du jour in Hollywood lately, and there's something about the undead that has everyone wanting to cash in on stories that involve these creatures. TV has the very successful and popular, The Walking Dead series. In movies we have funny ones like Shaun of the Dead starring Simon Pegg, the Brad Pitt starrer World War Z, and the upcoming films Maggie, and Pride And Prejudice And Zombies. You may even recall the dark comedy Zombieland, which starred Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin.

But while World War Z has had a confirmed sequel a long time ago, it's only now that things are moving along with the plans for a Zombieland 2 full movie. It will be recalled that the first plans for the film was to transport it into television as a series.

Amazon actually created a pilot episode that would follow the exploits of the four main characters. But the show never materialized apparently because the fans hated it. Screenwriter Rhett Reese noted that negative backlash from "diehard Zombieland fans" who hated the new actors who played the characters Columbus, Wichita, Little Rock and Tallahassee, were the main reason the would-be TV series was abruptly yanked.

The original Zombieland movie starred Harrelson, Eisenberg, Stone and Breslin as zombie apocalypse survivors who embark on road trip to find a place where they could truly escape the zombies. The film was so successful, that it passed 2004 Dawn of the Dead remake in earnings.

Now the Zombieland 2 full movie looks like it's a go with the confirmation of a screenwriter! Instead of the original writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Deadline reports that David Callahan is set to write the Zombieland 2 screenplay. Callahan is credited with writing The Expendables, and the hugely successful Godzilla reboot, which grossed $ 524.90 million worldwide.

Directing duties will still fall with the original helmer Russ Fleischer, but there's no news yet if the original cast members will be back to reprise their roles.
