Keanu Reeves in "John Wick" movie wows viewers in the final trailer, as he reveals his darkest side by going on a payback rampage. After the flop of "47 Ronin," critics wonder if the "Matrix" star's new role would once again put him back in the spotlight.

Screenrant got first dibs in raising this question after featuring Keanu Reeves in "John Wick" movie trailer. Produced by Lionsgate films, the high-action thriller garnered an R-rating.

Here, Reeves plays the role of a retired assassin out on a payback rampage to claim justice for himself and his dog. The latter was killed by two unidentified men who invaded his home one night and beat him up. As it turned out, his beloved pet was a gift from his dying wife. And for a man who seems to have not yet fully recovered from losing his wife, losing a dearly beloved pet sufficed to drive him over the edge.

A the trailer hinted, there was much more to the crime than just a simple break-in. Screenrant divulged that the tragedy was a calculated scheme to bully Reeve's character after he pissed off a kingpin's son in a chance meeting. What he did not know was that Reeves was not the type of man he could easily mess with.

The trailer flaunted Reeve's assassin skills in the movie to the fullest. Combined with his steel gaze and brooding demeanor, his John Wick character was an action powerhouse whose overflowing rage translated to visually mesmerizing combat stunts. The trailer exploded with action scenes that had critics at Firstshowing.net raving. One scene in particular caught their eye: John Wick's defeating his opponents with only a pencil for a weapon.

Screenrant commented that Reeves role highlighted his acting skills quite well. They noted how perfectly fitted he was for the role given his cool persona and piercing stare.
