Will Smith in "I Am Legend 2" movie could not amount to anything more than wishful thinking for fans now, but one thing remains certain: Warner Bros. has already greenlighted the "I Am Legend 2" reboot.

Movie web revealed that the studio has already lost interest in making a sequel, which meant picking up where the original franchise left off. So they opted to do a remake instead. But "The Men in Black" star would no longer be a part of it.

Nonetheless, the studio still found a way to make things work even if Will Smith in "I Am Legend 2" movie will be no more. Deadline reported that Warner Bros. is adapting the spec script entitled "A Garden at the End of the World" by Gary Graham.

The studio bought it from an ex-iPhone salesman (He was working as a salesman when his spec script was chosen. Nowadays he earns a living as a full-time writer in New York, reported Movie web.) who got the top executives' attention after he posted his pitch in the Black List web site.

Although Will Smith in "I Am Legend 2" movie will not be reality, producers of the original franchise Akiva Goldsman and Weed Road are back on board, along with Roy Lee and Brooklyn Weaver.

According to Deadline, the producers made previous attempts at creating a prequel with Will Smith's Robert Neville character. The story would follow him prior to the shocking occurrence that left him as the last man standing. Several writers were hired to create the script, but none of them succeeded in determining the best way to do it.

Movie web added that Warner was not the first studio to acquire a stand-alone spec script for a movie installment. To date, they have revealed no other details regarding the production development. Viewers would have to stay tuned to find out who will make up the cast for the "I Am Legend 2" reboot.
