Super Troopers sequel is finally happening after a 15-year wait. Steve Lemme, a Broken Lizard member, has revealed that the major reason why the sequel has been delayed was it had to raise a lot of money for the film, apart from the related legal issues.
Now, though, they have been able to raise $27 million. However, Lemme has mentioned that there may be a KickStarter campaign to help things along.
According to him, fans have been asking for a Super Troopers sequel for years. To make their fans happy, since they had to wait for over a decade for the sequel, Lemme hinted that everybody would be returning for the sequel and that everybody will also be sporting mustaches.
Lemme said, "Now, the guys who didn't grow mustaches for the first one want to have a mustache. We're making them earn it. Not sure how we'll haze them, but they better be prepared." Sadly, however, Lemme did not give any information regarding the plot of the Super Troopers sequel. He did, however, reveal that the script was quite interesting.
Broken Lizard now has to figure out a way how to beat the infamous opening scene of the first movie, which premiered back in 2001.
Lemme said, "I think it's one of the more unique and interesting stories I've seen in a while. But, the movie picks up pretty much where we left off in the first one. It's a few years later."
He then added that the biggest difficulty that the crew might have to face will be having to top the opening scene of the original movie. Still, Lemme is pretty confident that they can have a better opening scene for the upcoming Super Troopers sequel. He said, "The biggest difficulty was trying to top that opening scene, which so many people have complimented us on. I think we've done it."
