Which smartphone is the ideal purchase for consumers? Is it the LG G2, Google's Nexus 5, or the Samsung Galaxy S4?

In terms of design and display, all three smartphones have the same screen resolution of 1080x1920pixels, but although it has a smaller display (True HD IPS) of 4.95 inches, the Nexus 5 supports a higher pixel density of 445ppi. The Samsung Galaxy S4 has a display (Super AMOLED) of 5 inches with 441ppi, while the LG G2 has a 5.2 inches display (True HD-IPS + LCD) with 424ppi.

The LG G2 is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2, while the Nexus 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 has a Gorilla Glass 3. The LG G2 is the tallest among the three, measuring 138.5×70.9×8.9 mm and weighing 143 grams, while the Nexus 5 is slightly smaller, measuring 137.9×69.2×8.6 mm and weighing 130 grams. Lastly, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is smaller and slimmer than both of its opponents, measuring 136.6×69.8×7.9mm but has the same weight as the as the Nexus 5.

For the hardware, both the Nexus 5 and the LG G2 are powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, partnered by an Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM and they also have a full HD display. The Samsung S4 is available in three variants, all featuring full HD displays and hosting 2GB of RAM. One variant has an Exynos octa-core CPU, backed up by a PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU, the other variant has a Snapdragon 600 1.9GHz quad-core CPU, and the third variant, which is LTE-A, features a Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip.

Meanwhile, the Nexus 5 and the G2 have two variants of unexpandable internal memories: 16 and 32GB. The Galaxy S4's variants of internal memories are 16/32/64 GB and the first two ones are expandable up to 64GB. The Nexus 5 runs on the Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS, which was upgraded to the 4.4.4 (KitKat) version. The LG G2 runs on the Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) OS, which is upgradable to the 4.4.2 (KitKat) version and has G's Optimus UI, and finally the Samsung S4 runs on the Android4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), but the OS was upgraded, first, to the 4.3 version and later the phone ran on the 4.4.2 (KitKat) version with Samsung's TouchWiz UI.

For the battery usage and camera specs, the LG G2 is equipped with a Li-Po battery of 3000mAh, but it's non-removable. The Nexus 5's battery is also non-removable, but it has a lower capacity of 2300mAh. The Samsung Galaxy S4's battery life is decent thanks to its 2600mAh capacity.

Both the LG G2 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 have 13MP rear cameras, but G2's camera handles better low-light conditions and reproduces colors with more ease. Plus, the S4 lacks OIS. The Nexus 5 has a primary camera of 8MP and the video recording is limited to 1080p@30fps.

The Nexus 5 16GB variant cost around $385, while the LG G2 16Gb variant cost $393, and Samsung Galaxy S4 16GB variant is around $428.
