Kobe Bryant is on the right track to recovery as he performed well during LA Lakers first game. Bryant missed six games last season.
During his first game with the team after his injury, Bryant made two of four shots, all midrange jumpers, and dished two assists in one full quarter of action during the Los Angeles Lakers' scrimmage.
Bryant was understandably asked by the media how he felt playing in which he answered "I feel fine. You guys got to work on your [expletive]. You guys are killing me."
The ace player said that he is physically fine after his second practice though he is feeling a bit of soreness on his legs which was common.
He added "It feels good being out there to compete, it's fun. ...I understand the level of curiosity. But I just do what I do."
Lakers coach Byron Scott was also satisfied of Bryant's performance saying "Kobe did great. He looked good in practice today. He looked good in the scrimmage. You can tell he is getting his legs under him. His wind is good. The rust is starting to come off."
He added "He's able to get to his spots and jump over people. But as far as trying to get to the basket and things like that, a lot of it today [was affected] because it gets a little cluttered in there because the offensive guys still don't understand our spacing."
The starting players during the scrimmage match were Bryant and Steve Nash manning the guard post. Wesley Johnson was the small forward, Carlos Boozer at power forward and Jordan Hill at center.
And just like Bryant, Nash also has his share of injuries and his performance during the scrimmage was good as well.
Scott said "Steve impressed me and Kobe impressed me. For both of those guys not playing basketball much last year, to play the way they did today, be able to get up and down the floor the way they did yesterday and today, I was impressed."
The LA Lakers are working hard to impress during the opening season of the NBA. Many are looking forward to their performance during the season and is hoping for a positive response from the team.
