When people hear "Robin Hood" remake, not many are impressed thinking that will just be another retelling of the old films. The last "Robin Hood" film was released in 2010 and it starred Russell Crowe and directed by Ridley Scott. Those big names in the movie industry had somewhat helped boosted its box office figures.
However, movie critics and film review websites have mixed reactions regarding the 2010 "Robin Hood". It only received a 6.7/10 ratings from IMDb and 5.4/10 from Rotten Tomatoes. Not that impressive that's why some audience raised their eyebrows when they heard that there will be another "Robin Hood" remake. The producers really need to do something awesome to make this reboot a box office hit.
Looks like Sony Pictures is planning something big for the remake. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony is in the midst of making a seven-figure deal to buy a pitch centering on Robin Hood. They also reported that the film will be called "Hood" and the project will be headed by Jeremy Lott and Cory Goodman, who were allegedly chosen to work on Dwayne Johnson's "Lore".
A source revealed to the website, "The figure for the deal is $1 million against $2 million, while producer deals are still being negotiated." Do you think that pitch is too much for a "Robin Hood" remake? THR explained why the price is high and it involved the words "Avengers" and "Universe".
There are plans to make the "Robin Hood" a series like the Marvel blockbuster. There are rumors that they are going to turn Robin Hood and his Merry Men including Friar Truck, Little John and Will Scarlett the superheroes of the Middle Ages.
Their source also said, "The tone of the story has been described as Mission: Impossible and the recent Fast & Furious movies." The project will be headed by Michael De Luca, who produced the upcoming films "Dracula Untold", "Point Break" remake, and Fifty Shades of Grey".
MovieWeb reported that "Hood" will be released in 2016. If ever they will push through with the superhero concept, do you think the "Robin Hood" remake can be as big as "The Avengers"?
