The latest Cleveland Cavaliers roster and news revealed that LeBron James and the rest of the team are off to a good start with their first pre-season win. Coach David Blatt also said that they have the personnel to play zone defense as he looks forward to bonding with players in Brazil.
The Cleveland Cavaliers roster and news have been abuzz with LeBron James rejoining the team after winning two championships with the Miami Heat. He is joined by veterans Kevin Love, Shawn Marion and Mike Miller who will team up with up-and-coming stars Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters.
The Cavaliers won over Maccabi Tel Aviv on Sunday night 107-80, and the win was made more interesting because David Blatt used to coach the Israeli team.
"If you've got a brother and you go to play outside, you're dying to beat him but if you do, you feel (bad). There was no way to really win that game," he told ESPN.
"I was nervous before the game, but not because it was the first time I coached in the NBA. I was playing against my friends," he added.
LeBron James also confirmed that the game meant so much to the rookie coach.
"He was very nervous, excited, uptight -- and rightfully so. He has a lot of ties to that team, a lot of ties to that community, that city, that country and his first real game is against his former team. So I don't know how much he slept last night," he said.
In other Cleveland Cavaliers roster and rumors, David Blattt revealed that they would play some zone defense this season.
Talking to Cleveland.com, he said that they are just trying to master the basic principles of his offense and defense.
"As far as the number of things you can do, you can still be creative but you have to be smart about it," he said. "We played some pretty good zone, with that unit. We are really not on to the more advanced things we'd like to do."
