"The Lego Movie 2" will be out by 2017. The new film is said to premiere on May 26, 2017 with a new director.

According to Cinema Blend, " the first movie's directors, Phil Lord and Chis Miller, will not be coming back to direct. Instead, they've hired animation co-director Chris McKay to helm the sequel.

Meanwhile, news of potential cast members are already sparking fans' interest. One of the most talked about cast addition is Spider-Man's cameo appearance along with other Marvel superheroes including the "Avengers" and "X-Men." Fans await official news regarding the said rumor.

Yahoo reported, "The Lego Movie had a supporting cast of DC superheroes like Batman and Wonder Woman, but for the sequel, [creators] Miller and Lord would love to get Marvel heroes on board."

Cast members from the first film are expected to reprise their roles according to some "The Lego Movie 2" rumors. In an interview with Metro, "The Lego Movie" star Chris Pratt shared his thoughts about returning for the sequel.

"I don't know anything. I hope I'm back. I loved working with Chris and Phil and I hope Emmett is crucial to the story," he said.

"It could be about a different character, it's not like other cartoons in that way. I hope that Emmett isn't disposable, he was such a great big part of that movie."

"The Lego Movie" was a hit among moviegoers when it debuted on the big screen earlier this year.
