There are still a lot of films to see this final quarter of the year but it will not hurt to give a list of the Top Movies of 2014 - so far.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, was believed to be unfit for the military service. In a sudden turn of events, he volunteered for a top secret research project that eventually led him to being Captain America.
Cinema Blend wrote, "'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' is a spectacularly-made, tense, thrilling ride, and whether you go to the theater for the blockbuster action or the exciting story, you will leave more than satisfied."
With production budget of $170 million, it earned $95,023,721 in the opening weekend. Its worldwide gross reached $714,083,572 (close date: August 21, 2014).
Guardians of the Galaxy
It's "Ironman" star, Robert Downey, Jr., himself who said that "Guardians of the Galaxy" may be the "best Marvel movie ever".
At the end of its run, Forbes reported that the film is expected to gain "at the very minimum $730 million, a mid-range minimum of $760 million, or a high end estimate of perhaps $785 million". It added that "the movie is destined to become either the 62nd, 52nd, or 49th highest-grossing film in history".
Edge of Tomorrow
Another Forbes report said that this film is "Tom Cruise at his sci-fi best". Empire Online, on the other hand, gave this verdict for "Edge of Tomorrow": "A playful and frantic science-fiction twister which mimics the best ("Aliens", "The Matrix", "Groundhog Day") while offering something fresh and - most importantly - thrilling.
"Edge of Tomorrow" got $28,760,246 n the opening weekend. It's worldwide gross hit $369,206,256.
