After, last week's teasers from Mark Frost and David Lynch, Showtime declared that Twin Peaks will be returning in 2016, 25 years after Laura Palmer swears Agent Cooper that they will meet. In the months of rumors and with the Blu-ray box set in the rear view mirror about an upcoming revival, it looked likely fans would not be hearing more about the Twin Peaks from Mark Frost and David Lynch soon. The Blu-ray production had been a talk of new material, but it is dismissed by Lynch, it as basically filming some bonus features and promotional spot. Currently, Kyle Maclachlan, the series star, is starring as Skye's dad on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D of Marvel, the photos of himself has sparked its own round of discussion.
In the first part of 2014, Ray Wise played Laura's dad on the TV series, there was more to it that when asked about the probability of a revival.
"They wouldn't remake it. If anything was done, it would be 25 years later," Wise said. "It would never be a remake of anything we already did. Maybe you just didn't mean to use that word, I don't know. A remake, no, but it would be something new and fresh. David always said the town of Twin Peaks is still there; it's still going on whether we watch it or not. So, who knows what'll happen in the future? It would be 25 years later, not anything remade. Does that answer your question?"
This is not the first time an effort has been made to plan on new content since the series' end. In the Audrey Home-centric spin-off, Sherilyn Fenn that evolved eventually into the failed TV pilot and film Mulholland Drive success. In 2015, the nine episode series will be into production and will premiere in 2016.
