A "Fashion Police" update reported that comedy personality Kathy Griffin has been chosen to replace Joan Rivers. The late comedienne's protégé will reportedly fill the post in spite of co-host Kelly Osbourne's tweet that said "no one" will replace the late TV icon.

An insider has told Daily Mail: "Kathy has been told if she wants the gig she can have it because Melissa wanted someone who her mother would have approved of."

The source added: "Kathy will probably take the position but they are still working out the deal."

The "Fashion Police" update came after rumors regarding Kathy Griffin's hosting stint started circulating even while Joan Rivers was still in a coma. The late comedienne's good friend immediately shut down the rumors back then. "It's disgusting. It's not true," Kathy Griffin said.

"I know that stuff shouldn't bother me at this stage of my career-you know, I thought I'd heard it all-but that one hurts, because it's as far from the truth as you can get," Kathy Griffin expressed, reported by Daily Mail.

A source close to Kathy Griffin said the redhead "adored and admired Joan". The insider said: "Not only did Joan mentor Kathy they were really close friends. Kathy is heartbroken that she is gone."

Another recent "Fashion Police" update has reported that one of its hosts, Kelly Osbourne, revealed that 'no one' will replace Joan Rivers.

E!Online was one of the first to report about how the TV icon reportedly stopped breathing during a minor endoscopic procedure at Yorkville Endoscopy medical clinic. Joan Rivers passed away a week later, in September 4. She was 81 years old.

Since then, the rumor mill has been abuzz about who could possibly replace the brutally frank "Fashion Police" host.

According to a report from The Wrap, co-host Kelly Osbourne does not seem pleased with Joan Rivers replacement rumors and tweeted: "#enough already!!! yes @e_FashionPolice Will be back in January but NO ONE WILL REPLACE @Joan_Rivers!"
