After successfully working through an undercover drug bust operation in a local high school, the two cops will again be going undercover, but it will be in college this time around.

In the previous film, Schmidt (played by Hill) and Jenko (played by Tatum) were able to fully realize their partnership as they went through hilarious and raunchy challenges together, cracking the case of drug dealing taking place at the high school.

The comedic premise of the upcoming film will now focus on the problems that come with "marriage," as producer Neal H. Mortiz calls it. They begin to doubt and question their partnership, especially after entering college, meeting new people, and going through experiences different from those of their last mission.

Jenko immediately becomes friends with jocks named Zook and Rooster, who are the investigation's prime suspects. On the other hand, Schmidt meets an art student named Maya, with whom he eventually sleeps with. However, she tells him not to take it seriously, and he ends up feeling left out while Jenko enjoys his time with the jocks and is even encouraged to join the football team.

Ultimately, the pair begins to question their partnership and whether they should be police officers until they realize that their differences help them become more effective partners. The film ends with the two reconciling their differences in front of a cheering crowd.

The sequel proved to be a huge hit among moviegoers and critics alike. It has an 85% rating in Rotten Tomatoes, and almost everyone who saw the movie claimed it was better than the first.

What could've made it better might probably be the hilarious end credits that showed hilarious and believable fake sequel posters.

Unbelievably the photos used for the posters were shot in entirely one day. Brian Mah, creative director of Alma Mater shares:

"While Phil and Chris shot the live-action scenes, we shot hundreds of stills of the cast," he says. "The actors would bounce back and forth between our sets throughout the day, changing into a new costume for each sequel."
