There is a new movie out from Disney that is being described as something like Harry Potter, but instead of being about magic -- it's all about science. This is what George Clooney's new Disney movie is! And the Tomorrowland movie trailer just debuted at the New York Comic-Con and it is fantastic.
The official synopsis of the movie goes something like this:
"Tomorrowland centers on "former boy-genius Frank (Geroge Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as Tomorrowland."
The film's stars were on hand at the Disney panel at the Comic-con, along with producer Damon Lindelof (The Leftovers) and producer/director Brad Bird (The Iron Giant, The Incredibles).
After talking a bit about how the movie is based on the idea of a theme park, the way Pirates of the Caribbean is, the panel then went on to unveil the Tomorrowland movie trailer. It shows Britt Robertson's character Casey, who somehow gets hold of a magic pin, that instantly transports her to another world.
"This is somebody who might need the pin at that moment because the future's not looking so bright." Lindelof explains. "We'll come to find that she's been given the pin by another character named Athena."
Of the character Athena, whom we don't get to see yet in the Tomorrowland movie trailer, the actress who plays her, Raffey Cassidy describes her as such: "She's not a bad character, she's a good character because she's helping and caring for people. But I wouldn't say she's really good; she's not the most thoughtful of people's feelings all the time. She is extremely optimistic and she knows karate."
George Clooney who plays Frank the movie emerged as the surprise guest of the panel, and joked that he saw too little of himself in the Tomorrowland movie trailer that was just unveiled.
"What the hell, that's it? We've been waiting for this thing for a year and a half and that's it?" said Clooney jokes. "I'm so barely in the teaser! I don't want to have to say, 'I'm a big star!' "
Tomorrowland hits theaters on May 22, 2015. In the meantime, watch the incredible Tomorrowland movie trailer here:
