It's just the premiere but the first episode of 'The Originals' season 2 did not waste any time getting into the action!
Executive producer Julie Plec promised more blood and gore for the 'The Vampire Diaries' spinoff and the show certainly delivered. So much happened in the first episode alone, revelation after revelation kept spilling in just one hour.
First off, Rebecca opens the second season with a bedtime story for baby Hope, telling her about her father and the kingdom he lost. She assures her, though, that Klaus will get the city back from the monsters that tried to harm her.
Then there's Klaus, who is weak, frustrated, and murderous and as proven in the past season, doesn't bode well for his enemies. Added to his frustration is the growing urgency to find the white oak stake, which is in the hands of Davina and the newly resurrected Mikael.
Francesca drives herself mad with the Mikaelson brothers' radio silence and she asks for help from the resurrected harvest girl possessed by Esther. She is also joined by her son Finn, occupying a college professor's body.
Marcel and Cami start (and end) a friends with benefit setup. She also triggers Klaus and Marcel's reconciliation of some sort.
Davina meets a new guy fried and potential love partner - Kaleb, the mysterious new bloke in town with an intriguing accent. He turns out to be another original brother, Kol. His reason for putting the moves on Davina, however, is still a mystery. It might have something to do with the "family reunion" that Esther is planning.
One of the first curveballs that viewers did not expect so early on in 'The Originals' season 2, however, is Francesca's (and the rest of the Guerrero werewolves') early deaths.
Killing the werewolf that tried to kill her daughter should have pacified Hayley but it did not bring her peace of mind that she wanted.
"I was a mother - now I'm a monster," she tells Elijah, lamenting her loss of identity as werewolf.
With Elijah's urging, Klaus and Hayley bond over their mutual grief and need for a better future for their daughter. The question is, will Klaus help her heal or will it only unleash the monster that she fears she has become?
