The new "Focus" trailer with Will Smith and Margot Robbie in the lead roles is out now. However, rumors say that "The Men in Black" star and his leading lady in this romantic action-drama were only replacements for first choices Ben Affleck and Kristen Stewart.
Is there any grain of truth to this gossip?
Huffington Post Entertainment says, "Yes." As it turned out, the movie, which was was written by Glenn Ficarra and directed by John Requa, had been rumored to have considered several choices prior to settling with Smith and Robbie. Actually, Ben Affleck and Kristen Stewart only came second to rumored first choices Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.
Finally, the rumors were quieted when the creators and producers finally released the "Focus" trailer with Will Smith and Margot Robbie in the prime roles - and as Huffington Post Entertainment commented the duo were convincing grifters.
From what the trailer revealed, Smith plays the role of con artist Nick Spurgeon. He is responsible for training Jess Barrett (Margot Robbie) and showing her vital tricks of the trade. They were on the verge of partnering with each other but for some reason ended up going their separate ways. Years later, they are brought together once more for a big racket.
In the movie, as reported by Mail Online, Smith went topless, thus baring his buff body with surfboard abs. The scene shows Smith standing on a hotel balcony with his chiseled body bare save for a pair of blue-green shorts and a necklace. At 46 years old, the actor showed that he still have what it takes and plays his role of grifter to perfection.
Barrett, on the other hand, matched his performance. Although this is only her third biggest movie to date, the Aussie actress portrayed her role of femme fatale just as flawlessly as her leading man. She used her feminine charms well in doing her job, but things got uncomfortably hot for her and Smith when they got linked romantically, reported Mail Online.
"Focus" trailer with Will Smith and Margot Robbie is only a teaser for the movie that is due to hit theaters on February 27, 2015 (Huffington Post Entertainment).
